To set up and connect to the Control Hub Wi-Fi, perform the following steps:

Connecting to the Control Hub Wi-Fi

On the Driver Station, navigate to the Pair with Robot Controller screen and press Wifi Settings .
Select your Control Hub's network name from the list . The default name begins with "FTC-" and is printed on a sticker on the bottom of the Control Hub .
Enter the password (the default password is password) and press Connect . Note that the Driver Station will not have internet access once connected .
Use the back arrow to return to the main Driver Station screen and verify that the network name is displayed in the Network field .

Changing the Wi-Fi Channel

If you need to change the operating channel to avoid wireless interference :

Go to the Manage page of the Control Hub user interface .
Use the drop-down selector to choose a channel on either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band .
Press the Change Channel button . The Driver Station may momentarily disconnect but will reconnect automatically .
Verify the new channel in the Network section of the main Driver Station screen .

Changing the Wi-Fi Password

On the Manage page of the Control Hub user interface, enter and confirm your new password in the Access Point Password section .
Press the Change Password button .
Reconnect your devices to the network using the new password .

A Control Hub is slightly different from a phone-based Robot Controller. A Control Hub acts as an actual wireless access point. A Driver Station device connects to the Control Hub's Wi-Fi network like it would to any other Wi-Fi network. The user only needs to provide the correct password in order to access the wireless network -- no manual acceptance step on the access point is required.

- 9. From Pair with Robot Controller screen, look for and press the Wifi Settings button to launch the device's Android WifiSettings screen.

- 10. Find the name of your Control Hub's wireless network from the list of available WiFi networks. Click on the network name to select the network. If this is the first time you are connecting to the Control Hub, then the default network name should begin with the prefix FTC- (FTC-1Ybr in this example). The default network name should be listed on a sticker attached to the bottom side of the Control Hub.

- 11. When prompted, specify the password for the Control Hub's WiFi network and press Connect to connect to the Hub. Note that the default password for the Control Hub network is password. Also note that when you connect to the Control Hub's WiFi network successfully, the DRIVER STATION will not have access to the Internet.

- 12. After you successfully connected to the Hub, use the back arrow to navigate to the previous screen. You should see the name of the WiFi network listed under "Current Robot Controller:". Use the back-arrow key to return to the Settings screen. Then press the back-arrow key one more time to return to the main DRIVER STATION screen.

- 13. Verify that the DRIVER STATION screen has changed and that it now indicates that it is connected to the Control Hub. The name of the Control Hub's WiFi network (FTC-1Ybr in this example) should be displayed in the Network field on the Driver Station.

Managing a Control Hub > Changing the WiFi Channel

The Control Hub acts as a wireless access point for the Driver Station and for the programming laptop or Chromebook. By default the Control Hub automatically picks an operating WiFi channel. However, it is sometimes necessary to specify the operating channel for the Hub.

For example, at a large competition an FTA might ask that you switch to a designated channel to avoid wireless interference that is present in the venue. Similarly, an FTA might ask you to switch to a specific channel because the FTA is monitoring that designated channel for interference or other wireless disruptions.

You can select the operating channel for the Control Hub from the Manage page.

Note: References to the DRIVER STATION smartphone may instead apply to the REV Robotics Driver Hub (https://docs.revrobotics.com/duo-control/control-system-overview/driver-hub-specifications), which is preloaded with the Driver Station (DS) app.

Teams who are using a Control Hub (which has an integrated Android Device) will only need to configure a single smartphone for use as a DRIVER STATION. The process is as follows:

Rename the smartphone to "<TEAM NUMBER>-DS" (where <TEAM NUMBER> is replaced by your team number).
Install the Driver Station (DS) app onto the DRIVER STATION device. (The DS app is pre-installed on the REV Robotics Driver Hub.)
Put your phone into Airplane Mode (with the WiFi radio still on).
Pair (i.e., wirelessly connect) the DRIVER STATION to the Control Hub.

Important: that its name complies with the Competition Manual, but for now we will use the Control Hub with its default name. You can learn how to manage a Control Hub (and modify its name, password, etc.) in this tutorial.

On the Manage page of the Control Hub user interface, find specify your new password and then confirm this new password in the Access Point Password section of the page. Press the Change Password to change the password.

After you press the Change Password button, a dialog box will appear, indicating that the password has been changed and that you will need to reconnect to the wireless network using the new password.
